URBAN MYTHOLOGIES

Figurative paintings where observed reality meets memory, symbolism and imagined worlds.

Human figures inhabit environments shaped by urban experience, natural forms and fragments of mythology. Ravens, mountains, temples, cacti and dreamlike architecture recur as signs of transition, memory and inner life.

ABOUT THE SERIES

Urban Mythologies grows from Robert Scholten’s parallel interests in direct observation, classical figurative painting and speculative world-building. The paintings shift between familiar reality and psychologically charged spaces, treating the city as both a physical place and a landscape of memory.
